MDI demand pressured by construction sector weakness

Demand for methylene diphenyl diisocyanate(MDI)in North America hasbeen soft in recent months,and ongoing struggles in the construction sector are keeping the demand outlook soft over thenear term.The construction sector is the largest single consumer of MDI products,with construction accounting for nearly40% of all demand for downstream polyurethane systems in North America.According to data from the American ChemistryCouncil(ACC)and Vault Consulting,MDI sales in the US fell by 18.6% in the first quarter of 2023 compared with the sameperiod of the prior year.
