Wednesday walks

The Wednesday Walks began in the late 1980s when one of the authors - Jo Walker - and Merren Sloane had a midweek afternoon free and decided to spend Wednesday afternoons identifying the local flora. The first site chosen was the ACT end of Sutton Road where several weeks were spent discovering interesting plants and recording their findings, making many lists for different parts of the roadsides. There were white-painted wooden posts along the roadside back then, and they marked numbers discreetly on the back of them as they went along to give some indication of where the plants occurred if they ever needed to find them again - only to find the posts removed several months later and replaced with plastic posts!
