I was delighted to open The Sunday Times travel section on May 8 and find a lead article by chief travel writer Chris Haslam debating the merits of England's scenic bus routes. The bus industry needs this kind of press coverage, exposing car-owning readers to the possibility of using buses to enjoy spectacular views and make one-way journeys to points along coastal or country walks. And make no mistake, The Sunday Times is a newspaper that appeals to an aspirational readership. Every week, its travel features describe luxury holidays in expensive locations at home and abroad, Jeremy Clarkson and others write entertaining reviews of cars at prices that would still secure a modest house, and the property section highlights first and second homes valued well into seven figures.
