Nigeria aims to end oil products imports by the second half of 2023, when works at two major refineries are expected to be completed, the head of state-run energy company Nigerian National Petroleum Co. said Aug. 30. NNPC Director and CEO Mele Kolo Kyari said the completion of the rehabilitation of the 210,000 b/d Port Harcourt refinery, which would raise the plant’s refining capacity to 90% of its installed capacity, combined with output from the new 650,000 b/d Dangote refinery, would ensure Nigeria’s self-sufficiency in domestic oil supply.
