摘要

Milliken & Co. worked "around the clock" to achieve a sought-after goal: the elimination of all per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from its textile fibers and finishes portfolio. The global manufacturer says that it has become the first U.S.-based multi-market textile manufacturer to remove PFAS. PFAS are a group of chemicals used to make coatings and products that resist heat, oil, stains, grease and water and are used in a variety of applications including textiles. They do not degrade easily in the environment, can move through soils and contaminate drinking water sources and may be linked to harmful health effects in humans and animals, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. As of Dec. 31,2022, the Textile Business at Milliken had removed PFAS-based finishes and fibers, which span multiple industries including flame-resistant, military, uniform and decor fabrics.
