NEW internal-combustion-engined (ICE) cars could remain on sale in the EU beyond 2035 if they run on sustainable efuels, according to leaked documents. A draft proposal seen by news agency Reuters suggests that the European Commission will allow firms to continue selling ICE cars beyond the deadline for new petrol and diesel vehicles being phased out across the bloc. The condition is that these cars must be powered by climate-neutral synthetic fuels, commonly known as efuels.
