SOME oil majors appear keen to jump off the energy transition bandwagon and return to focusing on fossil fuel gains, but profitable business models in low carbon can be achieved. After the stellar profits oil and gas have brought in the past year, some of the industry's main players have signalled their intention to backtrack from earlier energy transition intentions. Supermajors Shell and BP recently announced they would scale back existing plans to cut their oil and gas output up to 2030.
