Twenty-five rice germplasms were tested at different cropping stages (tillering, booting and dough) for resistance to leaffolder Cnaphalocrocis medinalis during kharif of 2004-05 and 2005-06 in India. Six germplasms, IET 13310, NDR 6023, IET 10649-1, Mahsuri, NDR 6232 and NDR 6175, showed a consistent damage rating of 1. Among the plant morphological characters studied, i.e. the number of tillers, plant height (cm), number of leaf, leaf width (cm) and leaf texture, only the leaf width (cm) showed a significant correlation with leaf folder infestation. Majority of the germplasms which had damage ratings of 1 and 3 had rough textures.
