Arthropods collected from foliage of adjacent pole-sized jarrah (Eucalyptus marginata) and marri (Corymbia calophylla [Eucalyptus calophylla]) occurring over c. 120 000 ha near Collie, SW Western Australia, were sorted into morphospecies and thenassigned to broad categories, including insect order, trophic level, and selected families. The only significant differences found were that more lepidopteran larvae (caterpillars) were present on jarrah foliage, and marri foliage held a larger biomass of Araneae (spiders). A significantly greater proportion of arthropod species on marri occurred at single sites. The data collected indicate that at a regional scale, jarrah and marri crowns show few differences in species richness and overall abundance or biomass of arthropods. This is consistent with previous studies at local scales.
