The tethered caps EU regulation stipulates that closure caps must be firmly attached to beverage cartons and PET bottles. The ordinance is mandatory from mid-2024 for all beverage containers with a capacity of up to three litres, except for beverage containers made of glass or metal and for medical purposes. This is to prevent the closures from getting into the environment during the disposal chain. As a result, dairy companies choosing the right packaging is no longer just about keeping a product fresh. It's also a chance to demonstrate what they stand for, by selecting a packaging option that promotes the company's values such as sustainability and environmental responsibility.
