Pack quality is vital to wool quality

OVER the past three years, as part of the new self regulation, the Australian Wool Exchange (AWEX) has been given the role of developing and maintaining many of the minimum quality standards in use in the wool industry today. The Quality Assurance (QA) standards, Codes of Practice and programs now operated by AWEX and its members underpin the quality of Australian wool, particularly in selling systems such as open cry auction where the seller and buyer are unable to negotiate on quality issues before sale. Wool pack quality is particularly important for the industry. It would only take a small number of poor quality wool packs in the system to cause significant damage to the Australian wool industry.
