THE INTERNATIONAL Wool Secretariat (IWS) has announced that all pure new wool garments sold in China and India carrying the Woolmark will be protected by newly developed, anti-counter feiting technology. IWS managing director, Adrian Kloeden, says theIWS has completed a six-month trial in China and India, of the Australian-designed Counterfoil technology and has decided to expand it to those markets to cover all new garments. The anti-counterfeiting device, known as Counterfoil, consists of a smallsquare of foil (7mm x 7mm) and is fixed to Woolmark swing tickets. The foil contains a tamper-proof optical image which is easily verified using a hand-held viewer.
