A better understanding of water and salt

For more than a decade there has been a large amount of public investment in the environment at a private landholder level. Early programs such as the Potter Farm Plan in western Victoria, and the Trees-on-Farms groups in NSW, recognised issues of tree decline and erosion as significant. They therefore began the process of widespread cultural change in the attitude towards natural resource issues by landholders. Nationally these initiatives developed into the decade of Landcare, funded through the National Landcare Program, which then lead onto the Natural Heritage Trust.
