New root disease monitoring technology

Bayer CropScience is marketing a new soil testing technology to help farmers understand and develop root disease risk management strategies for crops prior to sowing. Called PreDicta B the test is based on DNA technology to detect and quantify six important pathogens that can significantly affect crop yields, through disease expression. The current test suite includes Cereal Cyst Nematode. Take-all (including a separate test for oat attacking strains), Rhizoctonia AG8, Pratylenchus neglectus and P.thornei, and Blackspot in field peas.
