In 1991, Ron Swansbra from Moree in northern NSW became one of the first farmers in Australia to buy a rubber track Caterpillar Challenger tractor. Last year he took delivery of the 1000th Challenger tractor sold here. Today, Swansbra and his three sons operate eight Caterpillar track tractors on their various northern NSW farms. Having been a Challenger owner and operator since 'machine one', Swansbra says he has watched the evolution of the tractors through to his latest purchase and claims the 95E is "the best yet". "We are getting more work done in less time pulling bigger implements while at the same time saving on our fuel costs," he says. "We are also getting into our paddocks earlier after rain because the tractors tread so lightly over theground, they do not mess it or compact it."
