Reduced input costs, higher yielding crops and greater productivity gains - these are just some of the benefits being claimed for the use of liquid fertilisers as opposed to granular fertiliser distribution. Interest in liquid fertilisers in Australia has been sparked by the big increase in 'precision farming' with minimum tillage or one-pass cropping practices that are now being adopted across the country. Trial work With liquid fertilisers in both Western Australia and South Australia has attracted huge farmer interest and with many trials now being transferred from research centres to working farms, interest among croppers in both states is gathering momentum. In the coming season in WA, more than 300 farmers are expected to try locally-producedliquid fertiliser on varying proportions of their cropping programs, while in SA the on-farm take-up of liquid fertiliser is expected to be similar, subject to the availability of product and application equipment.
