Utilities (utes) and light trucks are among the most used - and abused - equipment on farms. As farm vehicles, they are expected to be all-round workhorses, travel at reasonable speeds with driver/passenger comfort and perform these tasks reliably, effectively and efficiently. The types and model configurations of utilities and light trucks available to farmers is almost endless. There are vehicles with standard cabs, extra cabs, space cabs, dual cabs and twin cabs with a choice of petrol or diesel4, 6, V6 and V8 engines, and two-wheel or four-wheel drive. They can be bought with utility styling, cab-chassis form or tray top with a choice of three-, four-, five-speed or automatic transmissions, and overdrive facilities, a wide range of choice in seating and, of course, farm utes can be bought with or without air conditioning or radios fitted.
