Time to re-allocate water for business and the environment

摘要

Water being used for irrigation on properties with marginal profitability (such as mixed cropping/livestock farms in the Murray Darling Basin) should be re-allocated to higher value farming systems and the environment. This is a key finding of a recently released benchmark report on water and the Australian economy. The study shows that water is not a limiting factor for economic growth.
