Queensland: West of the range the state can be divided into the south west and Darling Downs which has produced a surplus of forage sorghum and other summer grazing crops. The past two months have been quite dry, but the combination of early growth, and stored soil moisture has produced good growth. It has enabled the cutting of green crop for immediate use, and the baling of sorghum for both hay and silage. From about Taroom, to the north, there hasn't been enough early rain to get the roots of forage sorghum down. Many crops have struggled and many crops have had to be opened up to cattle, for a time, when alternatives could not be found. On many cattle properties in central Queensland it may again be a difficult winter.
