摘要

Numerous experimental investigations have shown that in modern computer and telecommunications networks traffic is self-similar. Traditional methods of calculating the parameters of communication and network processing devices are basically oriented towards the simplest flows of packets or queries. However, traditional approaches lead to large errors in the determination of the parameters of the devices. These conclusions have been arrived at on the basis of an analysis of the stationary state mode of operation of the devices. In the present study a nonstationary state mode of operation of a terminal-server system will be considered with flows that approach a self-similar flow circulating in the system.
