Active hood misuse testing: Encopim's Universal Impact Test System has been adapted to test pedestrian impacts under climatic conditions

After many years supplying turnkey, custom-built solutions for the passive safety field, Encopim has upgraded its Universal Impact Test System (UITS) to fulfill the increasing needs of car makers and accredited test laboratories. One of these new necessities is to check whether the active hood has deployed or not after an object (such as a basketball or a small animal) has hit the vehicles bumper. Moreover, since the car is placed inside a climatic chamber that has been cooled down to -40℃ or heated up to +85℃, the launch cannot take longer than a few seconds after the chamber doors have been opened.
