摘要

JOHN CRAWFORD says wool will become a cottage industry if it continues to cling to the "relics of the past". He says wool's marketing, promotion and decision-making processes have to be "turned upside" if the industry wants to compete with cotton andsynthetics for a share of the world's apparel textile market. "Wool has to stop wallowing in yesteryear," Crawford says, "The industry was left behind in the 1970s " Crawford and his family run a wool and grain business from Blue Gate, Moulamein, north-west of Deniliquin in the NSW Riverina. They produce in excess of 1000 bales of wool a year from about 50,000 to 60,000 sheep.
