摘要

About 80% of Australian businesses are family-owned and operated and as such face a range of unique challenges. Statistics suggest only 32% of such businesses survive to a second generation. Capital and financial issues are only part of the reason: the other primary reason is conflict over family ' goals, roles and responsibilities and the ability to communicate responsibility and openly on both family and business matters. Good succession planning is a process, not an event. It is about change. Since all change involves some level of discomfort, this means minimising the pain and potential damage, leaving a sustainable business in place.
