摘要

Nebraskan farmer David Endorf says. "Carbon trading is a reward for things I am already doing, and the return on investment has been huge, as my only investment was a little paperwork and a postage stamp." Farmers in the United States, albeit in smallnumbers, are leading the way in carbon trading despite the Federal Government's opposition to signing the international Kyoto protocol to reduce carbon emissions. Through establishing regional initiatives, known as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGG1), many farm organisations have bypassed the federal process to cultivate a burgeoning, although not yet lucrative, carbon trading market with the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX).
