In a massive campaign to stop the widespread mulesing of Australian sheep, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has undertaken a number of high-profile protests across Europe. Hundreds more protests have been planned using local animal activist groups to picket retailers and manufacturers. "European consumers associate Woolmark with animal cruelty and are able to identify Australian wool by looking for the Woolmark logo", Andrew Butler, PETA campaign coordinator in Europe says.
