How looming carbon price will impact commodity prices

It is difficult for farmers to estimate the impact of the carbon price on their commodity values when it is introduced on July 1. But a comprehensive review by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences gives an indication of what to expect. In this edited version of the report the writers say the impact will be greatest once freight diesel is incorporated in 2014. The big unknown is how much of processors added costs are to be recovered by lowering prices.
