As well, innovators are developing new ideas to add value to quality sheepskins. The sheepskin products industry has evolved to make use of a by-product of sheep processing by exploiting the unique qualities of this resource. The range of sheepskin products is broad and includes products made with the wool on (paint rollers, dusters, floor polishers, medical rugs, baby rugs, toys, car seat covers, floor rugs, footwear, garments, decorative trims, and shoe linings) or off (chamois and leather). Bronwyn McDougall, secretary/treasurer of the Australian Sheepskin Association, says the supply of sheepskins depends on slaughterrates, not demand for sheepskins.
