Sheep worm capsules - great tool but use with discretion

A controlled release capsule (CRC) delivering 100 days of parasite control to pre-lambing ewes and weaners has been commercially available since 1997 when Merial Australia released an ivermectin capsule. It was followed in 1999 by a similar CRC product but with the active ingredient being albendazole. Woolgrowers then had the opportunity to alternate drench types to discourage the build-up of resistance in worm populations. The most recent innovation is a "sequential release capsule" (SRC) containing both ivermectin and albendazole and designed to supply a measured dose every day.
