MANY of our farms have been operated in a similar fashion for several generations with basically no change to management. However, most things have changed along the way, including: the people, the seasons, economic environment, cost structure, livestock husbandry and production systems. That is to say the same decisions are being made with the same expected result as they were when grandad and dad were in charge, 20, 30 or even 50 years ago. Today however, is a totally changed environment. I've heard the definition of insanity explained as "To do the same thing over and over, expecting a different result". Maybe this is where we are right now.
