THE DROUGHT'S ironclad grip on eastern Australia failed to trip up a robust national rural property market during 2003/04, although hit and miss commodity prices did impact some areas. Despite the lacklustre conditions in many parts, buyers looked beyond the dry to agriculture's bright medium-term outlook backed by reasonable interest rates. As Phil Rourke, of Landmark Real Estate NSW, says: "The drought is as crook as ever yet the market is up."
