Perception change needed to revive remote communities

As more and more small businesses set up shop in towns like rald, Queensland, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga, NSW, and the number of exporters in regional areas climbs, a different trend is taking place in the more remote parts of Australia. Research shows that regional Australia is indeed 'reviving', as AusTrade chief economist, Tim Harcourt puts it. Regional areas account for 20 percent of Australia's exporters and that figure is growing steadily. Exporter growth has gone up in remote areas too, Harcourt says, though the numbers are so small they are statistically insignificant. Along with increasing numbers of small business and exporters in regional areas, populations have increased too, with people coming from both rural and metropolitan areas.
