Audi maintains that technology transfer from motorsport to production cars is not just a marketing exercise. The firm says that the TFSI system used on the R8's Le Mans-winning V8 engine directly benefited its road car engines, and, given that one in two new Audis is a diesel, it is now out to prove that racing can improve oil-burners, too.
