Identifying the real pests

When fanners want to change their pest management from relying on broad-spectrum insecticides to integrated pest management (IPM) there is a simple question that is surprisingly difficult for most growers to answer. What are the pests that need dealing with in this crop or this paddock? There are a few reasons for this. The first is that broad-spectrum insecticides can kill all pests, (until resistance) including minor and secondary pests and so growers have not seen the full range of pests.
