? 2022 Elsevier B.V.Polyimides (PIs) with a (C[sbnd]C[sbnd]O) chain structure were prepared via chemical imidization, for application in Li-ion battery anodes. Oxyethylene diurethane-4,4′-dianiline polyimides (denoted as EO-n-DA PI, n = 3, 4, and 5) with increasing C[sbnd]C[sbnd]O chain lengths were prepared using diamines with different chains. EO-5-DA PI with a longer C[sbnd]C[sbnd]O chain exhibited a specific capacity of 109.4 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 after 500 cycles, resulting from Li ion insertion and diffusion in the long C[sbnd]C[sbnd]O functional chain, as demonstrated in the electrochemical tests.
