The Australian sheep industry based around a dominant Merino ewe flock is becoming a revitalised force in the agricultural sector. Moves by the Top 10 players over the last 12 months are a window into what is shaping to happen across the sector as a result of continuing strong sheep meat demand and improved wool prices. Significantly, the Top 10 Sheep flock list has a new leader, with the family owned and run TK and PA Brinkworth lifting its total flock to 320,000 head. Other notable changes are thelarge increase of the Bell Group's sheep flock and the entry of two new players in the Top 10, Hassad Australia Pty Ltd to number 7, and Wellard Group to number 9.
