摘要

The different decision making process applied to pastures adopted by Merino wool growers David and Mary Marsh can produce profits, increase soil carbon sequestration, regenerate landscapes, and give peace of mind. Patrick Francis found out how. The increased productivity approach advocated by many agricultural advisors as the means to improve profitability came under question at the recent Carbon Farming forum in Armidale, New South Wales. Its short comings were described by Boorowa, NSW Merino sheep farmer David Marsh. His views were backed by some extraordinary changes taking place on his own 813 hectare property 'Allendale' since switching from high input practice to holistic management in 1999.
