TODAY, more and more farmers are looking at organic options as well as value-adding with a diverse range of new and innovative products. Neil Druce of Green Grove Organ-ics at Junee in the Riverina NSW says their family business began in 1918 when Neil's grandfather began farming in the region. "My father Alan started farming when he left school, then in 1962 he made a deliberate step to go organic which was probably the first in Australia," he says. "That was a slow and difficult process for many reasons but a lot of it was that there was no technical support, - at least there's an awareness now."
