FERTILISER, whether organic or not, is funny stuff and research in recent years has shown that some of our long held beliefs about it are not correct. One such misunderstanding is that fertiliser needs to be applied immediately before rain if it is todo any good. Research in the high rainfall zone of Victoria has shown that this method really works best if you are trying to feed the fish in the creek. The reason is that there are really two separate processes involved - firstly movement of nutrients from the fertiliser to the soil and then the movement of nutrients from the soil to the plant.
