Who can grow the best crops - farmers, advisers or researchers? This question is being put to the test in the Minnipa Agriculture Centre Farming Systems Competition sponsored by AWB Ltd. The south-western South Australia cropping competition is between researchers on the Minnipa Agriculture Centre (MAC), Eyre Peninsula consultants and a local farmers group. Each group has been allocated a three-hectare paddock to farm. Their goal is to make it the most profitable, sustainable paddock in the short and long term. A fourth paddock contains a farming system decided by consensus of the three teams.
