摘要

Efficiencies of a sugar plant are majorly defined by the yield and energy consumption. It becomes more challenging when it comes to the standalone sugar refineries because of not having their own fuel and water. Competitive grades of sugar are part of this challenge. So it is obvious to overcome such type of challenges before setup a standalone refinery. Operations of standalone refineries are quite different from cane sugar plants from raw material handling to final product handling. Every process step needs proper attention. Isgec heavy Engineering recently commissioned a state of art 2500TPD standalone sugar refinery in Yanbu, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), breaking all odds of efficiencies which has lower energy consumption, water consumption, fuel consumption, chemical consumption, effluent generation, higher level of automation, lesser manpower, high quality sugar compare to standard refineries. Selection of best combination is important to run refinery smoothly and efficiently. This paper describes about the new technologies and process schemes implemented successfully in standalone refinery.
