India’s cement output in August fell to its lowest level this year, although production was around 1.7pc higher compared with a year earlier. Higher cement production typically boosts demand for coal and petroleum coke. Indian cement manufacturers produced approximately 28.9mn t in August, up from 28.4mn t a year earlier, prelimi-nary government data show. But output fell from the 30mn t produced in July.
