FOOD FOR THOUGHT AND FOR THE PEOPLE

BY THE end of World War II, many people had seen their countries and their families starving, particularly in Europe and Japan. Many Americans had seen this during their service in the Army. As these people gained positions of power, they put in placepolicies to ensure a large supply of cheap food. Countries were prepared to tax their populations to ensure that farmers were kept on the land to produce. This interference with the natural forces of supply, demand and prices has slowly brought about the opposite effect to the one they desired.
