Dimorphotheca: Plants that thrive on neglect

LAST month's column mentioned some new varieties of dimorphotheca or the sailor boy daisy, plants particularly suited to hot, dry spots. Released under the name of Sun Wheels, the new varieties come in range of colours including pure white, pure yellow, pink and deep pink. Dimorphotheca grows well under trees - a notoriously dry position -so long as they are not growing in too much shade. They thrive on that dry, sunny bank and can do well near the front gate.
