US and Japanese beef trade resumption to hit Aussie beef prices

JAPAN and the US have agreed on a framework to resume beef trade between the two countries. The resumption of trade is dependant on Japan reducing the BSE testing requirements from all cattle slaughter, to cattle under 20 months of age. This will allow US beef from animals under 20 months of age to be imported to Japan. The Japanese Food Safety Commission is currently deliberating such a rule change with a report to follow.
