Giraud offers commercial insight into wool processing

JEAN-CHRISTOPHE Giraud's appointment to the International Wool Secretariat (IWS) Board three years ago recognised the need lor closer contact with the wool processing sector. Giraud is managing director of Chargeurs Wool Australia Pty Ltd, a divisionof Chargeurs of France, Not only is Chargeurs the world's largest supplier of wool tops from Australian wool but is the largest wool fabric manufacturer in Europe, Chargeurs Wool Australia annually buys up to 15% of the Australian wool clip. Sixty percent is scoured and made into tops at its Wagga Wagga mill (30% of Australia's wool processing capacity). The rest is processed at other overseas Chargeurs' mills including a new mill near Shanghai, China.
