ANGERS Valley feedlot, the 1996 Australian Lot Feeders Association and Pfizer Feedlot of the Year (with a capacity above 7500 head) is a cattle business with a mission. It wants to continually improve cattle production and beef quality and has a rangeof programs in place to ensure this happens. The feedlot is owned by Marubeni Corporation (Japan) and Marubeni Australia Ltd, and run by general manager, Malcolm Foster. Marubeni's ownership puts Rangers Valley feedlot in a unique position among Australian feedlots. All cattle are fed for about 300 days with the objective of meeting the Japanese B3 and B4 market specification. This is the highest quality beef Australia is capable of producing and allows the product to compete in the Japanese restaurant and hotel trade alongside domestic dairy beef.
