PRODUCING sawn timber from farm forests with small-scale processing equipment has the potential to both replace imports and provide farm foresters with a few extra dollars. This is the view of Ian Hanson and Professor Mark Stewart who have just reviewed the potential for processing trees on farms for the Rural Industries Research and Development Corporation's agroforestry and farm trees program.
