Barley group proves small can be big

THE SUCCESS of the Well-stead Research Group - a small body of mostly barley growers from the south coast of Western Australia - proves one does not need to be big to have an impact. The group of about 20 farmers has been at the forefront of introduced technologies since it began in 1987, including leading in the introduction of the south coast high-yielding cropping package and development work on no-till farming systems.
