MACHINERY CHIEF WANTS TO LIFT SECTOR'S PROFILE: Farmers need to understand industry structure

TONY Tait is making a fair fist of a career in farm machinery for somebody who wanted to be a veterinarian. Tait, 43, is the Sydney-based managing director and market manager for New Holland Australia Pty Limited and in February was elected chairman of the Tractor and Machinery Association of Australia (TMA), the farm mechanisation industry's peak national body. He is now leading TMA's push to many of the best-known tractor and farm machinery brands.
