摘要

VICTORIAN cereal farmer Kevin Clugston has discovered the financial rewards of monitoring the nitrogen status of his crops throughout the growing season. Last year, he took part in the Mey-check (maximum economic yield) program in a bid to improve theproductivity of his farm in the Rainbow district. Mey-Check relates paddock history, fertility, estimated rainfall, climate and other crop factors into a computer model to determine what combination of management activities and inputs will produce the most economic yield for a crop.
